Natural Gas Future - Analysis
Natural gas march delivery opened a gap on February 11th, moving above the dashed red line. Today it touched that line again from above but it did not try to force it. We are sure that it will try to close the gap but it is difficult to set a time frame.

Today in the news we read a peaceful resolution between Russia and Ukraine on debt and gas issue. This will favor a normal gas supply to the whole Europe and then a lower risk on more expensive gas. This view allow us to consider that the gap will be close soon. First support is at 8.29 and then 8.123. Resistances at 8.755 and 9.05.

Natural Gas Future - Update - Technical Analysis 15 feb 08

On Tuesday 12th February we wrote about Nat Gas future (march delivery), we expected it to close the gap left open on Monday 11th. It seems that it tried to close the gap on Wednesday missing a perfect closure for 6 ticks only. It was then pushed again above the red dashed trend line and it made a long spike towards  8.755 level where we expected to find its first resistance. Today it is trading few ticks above that level. Next resistance 9.080, support red dash line (8.380).

New High for Gold future
Comex Gold future reached its highest ever price at 924.80 on Friday's session, closing at 910.7 just below the green trendline. It is likely that soon Gold will break upwards again for several reasons. First of all the Feb gold is going to expiry in few months and all the liquidity will move to the more expensive (higher time value) April expiry. Power shortage in South African mines halted production of a big mining company on Friday and further power cuts are expected to reduce the output. This influenced Platinum price also (highest ever touched). Moreover there is still speculation on another Fed cut on Wednesday. Some analysts expect another 0.25 point that would certainly move the price up to a new high. We have seen a weak S&P on Friday's session that could influence Fed's decision. First resistance 934.00 $.

S&P Future: The future looks bearish. Technical Analysis
sp_logo.gifTechnical Analysis is the forecasting of future financial price movements based on an examination of past price movements. Like weather forecasting, technical analysis does not result in absolute predictions about the future. Instead, technical analysis can help investors anticipate what is "likely" to happen to prices over time. Technical analysis uses a wide variety of charts that show price over time. (www.stockcharts.com)
January has been a tough month so far, characterized by high volatility and big spreads. Let's see if we can get a clear view and understand what we should expect from the future. Charts can say a lot about the future and we want to share with our readers our view of the S&P future.

  S&P Future - Weekly Chart
The uptrend channel started in 2002 was violated and it's not pushing up the S&P future anymore, it's now going to test the 61,8% of the Fibonacci Retracement, where it should find a solid support, furthermore the RSI (a technical analysis indicator which measures the magnitude of gains over a given time period against the magnitude of losses over that period) is oversold.

As for the long term scenario, the situation appears now to be compromised giving space to a correction. In October 2007 the S&P future hit its maximum at 1.586,50 drawing a double top (first top March 2000). First Support (S1) is set at 1.270.
